A rather impromptu long-long-long weekend took me and a friend to Oslo and Bergen in the middle of the Norwegian winter. Very cold and very wet, but the scenery was breathtaking, especially so on the seven-hour train journey between the two cities. I'd love to do the journey again during the summer months when absolutely everything isn't blanketed in snow. Recommendations include SYNG, a modest little karaoke bar tucked away by a frozen river in the Grünerløkka district of Oslo, and Pingvinen, a pub in the centre of Bergen, where we found the locals super friendly and the traditional Norwegian dishes sublime!
